The California State University is Hiring a Maintenance Mechanic (Facilities Maintenance Mechanic) Near Sonoma, CA

Job Summary

Available work schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Reporting to the Housing Operations Manager, with additional lead work direction provided from other members of the Facilities Management team, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for all maintenance needs and work requests for student housing and any other structures or buildings operated by Sonoma State University. The incumbent independently performs a variety of skilled preventive and general maintenance, repair, construction, and renovation work on facilities and systems, including routine maintenance, repairs from normal wear and use, and vandalism.

Key Qualifications

This position requires four years of increasingly responsible experience leading to journey-level skills in a mechanical or facility/building trade, or any equivalent combination of training and experience as a facilities and systems mechanic which demonstrates the achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of an applicable apprenticeship program. Beginning proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite, computerized work control system, building automation systems; and PeopleSoft preferred. The incumbent must successfully complete a pre-placement exam and must possess and maintain a California Driver’s License valid for the operation of any vehicle or equipment required to maintain and operate.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $5,787 to $6,076 a month. This is a full time, non-exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
